More info about Baviaanskloof Wilderness Area
Situated in the Eastern Cape Province and inland of the Garden Route, the protected Baviaanskloof Wilderness Area is a vast expanse of pristine mountainous terrain with a host of fauna and flora thriving under diverse habitats. Baviaanskloof falls within the Cape Floral Kingdom and surrounds the small towns of Willowmore, Rietbron and Steytlerville. The name Baviaanskloof was given to the area by Dutch colonists centuries ago and translated means baboon ravine. Baboon troops are still found here in numbers.
This unique rugged landscape consists of barren mountain peaks and thick wooded forests in the valleys below. The forests belie the fact that the area falls within the Little Karoo, a semi-arid region. Baviaanskloof is frequented by the more serious mountain climber and hiker who enjoy vertiginous routes and the opportunity to see centuries-old rock art left behind by the San people in elevated caves and overhangs.

About Self Catering
Self Catering places can be found from rural to urban areas and can vary in what they offer. They allow plenty freedom and is a great inexpensive way to spend your holiday. They have been widely classified as a “Home away from home”. This is a good option for guests who don’t mind cooking their own food, and are looking for a more independent and flexible form of accommodation. For budget and large families, we would recommend self-catering for a more personalised experience.
