Citrusdal Baths Reviews
More info about Citrusdal Baths
Situated on the outskirts of Citrusdal town in the Western Cape is a natural hot spring. The property on which this spring is located has been in the MacGregor family for over a hundred years and their resort is named The Baths. The spring has been visited for centuries, first by the San and KhoeKhoe people, and later by Dutch explorers. It was the Dutch who officially built structures around the spring in 1739 and used it as a place of recuperation. The main spring, the eye, is enclosed in a vault and the water is directed to pools and spa baths for visitors to enjoy. This spring is in fact an artesian well that pumps out over 100000 litres of mineral-rich water every hour at a constant 43° Celsius.
The oldest dwelling at The Baths is a stone Victorian building erected by the first MacGregor in 1903. Others nearby were built in the 1920s... Show more
