Credo Mutwa is a South African Zulu born in 1921 who achieved fame for his books and prophecies told over the years. This portly man with the Coke bottle eyeglasses may appear apathetic but he’s a man overflowing with great energy and his cultural village in Soweto near Johannesburg is a reflection of his many talents. He is a well-respected Sangoma (traditional healer) in his community and on the world stage, an artist, author, playwright and charismatic story teller. A strong believer of traditional medicine applications to cure cancer, HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis, Mutwa currently runs a clinic in the Northern Cape.
The open air Credo Mutwa Cultural Village consists of buildings and a giant artwork collection created by Mutwa himself from 1974, and provides some insight into his vision of a living museum of African cultures.
