Elgin Reviews
Elgin is great and filled with lots of places to visit. I would recommend popping in at the railway market and Charles Fox (it’s a bit of a distance but the champers is with it)
The Elgin Railway Market.
Close enough to get there quick and far enough to escape the 'citylife' and experience forests, home made bakes and beautiful farms...
Great weather and a great Railway market.
Not much to do. It's more so suited for people who want to unwind.
The wine farms and Old Mac Daddy.
The peacefulness and friendliness.
The green orchards, the vineyards, the mountains.
The markets and ziplining
The wonderful cuisine available at 5 star establishments.
Walk, wine tasting, relaxing, close to cape town, but different environment.
More info about Elgin
The Western Cape is undoubtedly South Africa’s most beautiful province with a terrific myriad of destinations that amplifies the area’s great beauty and scintillating aesthetic appeal. The Elgin Valley is one of the best examples of this. As part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site’s protected Kogelberg Biosphere Reserve, the Elgin Valley has two distinct advantages – it is only an hour outside of the city of Cape Town and, more importantly, it is not as busy and crowded as other places in the Western Cape. With these benefits, it is no wonder the Elgin Valley is a popular getaway destination for those travellers that need to rejuvenate mind and body. As the Elgin Valley is located within the Kogelberg Reserve, everything here is very much dedicated to being outdoors. The list of things to do is appropriately long and endless with visitors able to enjoy mountain biking, bird watching, bass and trout fishing, kloofing, hiking... Show more
