More info about Emmarentia
While the city of Johannesburg is not exactly renowned as a resplendent natural paradise, it does have a few suburbs that are leafy and tranquil. This is quite evident in the northern suburbs with the area of Emmarentia being the epitome of this. In fact, the local residents believe their enclave to be the ‘green heart’ of the city and they are not far wrong. The area incorporates amongst others the Melville Koppies, and the popular Emmarentia Dam and Botanical Gardens, which in effect makes up a ‘green lung’ within the city of Johannesburg.
Emmarentia is very pretty and laidback; in fact it is this mellow-like ambience that is so attractive and refreshing considering the lifestyle in Johannesburg is anything but calm and peaceful. The Emmarentia Dam and Botanical Gardens is indeed a spectacular nature haven of note and has become a popular retreat for city dwellers looking to get away from the hustle and bustle... Show more
About Guest Houses
For a more down to earth experience there are guest houses. Less expensive than hotels, they offer a more homey environment, as well as more privacy. Converted from a private house it’s a much gentler environment and for those with furry friends, there are also pet friendly options. They are usually well situated with shops and places of interest nearby. Being so small it offers a much more personal and intimate attention to it’s upkeep, leaving you with a more polished and homely experience.
