Located on the lavish L'Ormarins Wine Estate in the Drakenstein Valley outside Franschhoek, the Franschhoek Motor Museum is a labour of love for the Rupert dynasty.
The museum houses over 200 classic cars of which 80 are on show at any one time, and were collected over many years by Johann Rupert, South Africa’s wealthiest individual. Each vehicle is in pristine condition and it’s difficult to imagine that some are over a century old, the oldest being an 1898 Beeston motorised tricycle. Big names in the motor industry, and all with a long history of pedigree such as Porsche, Alfa Romeo and Mercedes, are represented amongst the museum collection.
