Grahamstown Reviews
The Old buildings, the stunning churches and Cathedral, the history and the National Arts Festial.
The roads are full of potholes, everything closes very early during the weekend.
During fest, the Long table is a very good place for dinner!
Grahamstown is a lovely town but the terrible potholes and lack of water in town is a huge problem for visitors and residents alike. My sons are students at Rhodes University and struggle immensely with the bad water supply and as they call it "water shedding" as they sometimes go up to three days days at a time without water
Old world charm and quietness.
Beautiful old buildings to visit! The terrible streets full of potholes make this 5 star town unfortunately a 3 star place!
Beautiful historic buildings! Friendly people!
Kwantu, thats all I can say, Kwantu is my favourite place in Grahamstown by far!!!
Cathedral, monument and building.
The roads are bad though.
The weather and vegetation.
I like it around town of Grahamstown.
Historical buildings
More info about Grahamstown
The refined, historic town of Grahamstown is located in the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa. The town is a major centre for learning with the esteemed Rhodes University at its core.
Grahamstown is regarded as many things; a frontier town where British and Xhosa battled to the bitter end, the city of Saints, owing to the large amount of churches scattered throughout the town, Settler City with its connotation to British settlers who arrived here en masse in 1820, and South Africa’s art and science capital where two popular festivals take place annually.
Being a student town, Grahamstown has a youthful cheerfulness about it that contrasts with the harsh and unforgiving past with which this town was once associated.
