Hole in the Wall Reviews
More info about Hole in the Wall
In a part of South Africa that has remained mostly untouched, the Hole in the Wall is to be found along the Wild Coast at the Nzulwini river mouth. A small tidal island protects the river mouth along this stretch of coastline with an archway at its centre that was cut through eons of endless wave action. The archway is called the Hole in the Wall and is large enough for medium sized craft to sail through unhindered. At low tide it’s possible to swim out to the island for a close up view of the hole, however, the tides in these parts are dangerous and it’s a much better idea to simply enjoy this fabulous site from the safety of the coastline.
Local Xhosas call the Hole in the Wall esiKhaleni, meaning place of noise due to the large waves that crash up against the island and the subsequent thunderous sound reverberating through the hole... Show more
