Injisuthi camp in the Injisuthi Valley lies within the borders of the Giant’s Castle Game Reserve in the Maloti Drakensberg Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The camp is located on the banks of the Injisuthi River – sometimes known as Old Woman Stream – in an unspoilt section of the park, with several interesting routes established through the wilderness for hikers, mountain climbers and day walkers to enjoy.
Injisuthi, also pronounced Injasuti, is directly translated as dog (inja) and satisfaction (suthi), although how this name was derived is a total mystery.
The towering Champagne Castle overlooks Injisuthi Valley which has 5 caves to explore; lower and upper Injisuthi, Marble Baths, Grindstone and Wonder Valley. Often having to share a room with others as well as costs, it is incredibly inexpensive. Often the best choice for those who may be just passing through or will be occupied for the majority of their day. It comes with the most basic amenities and is often formed as part of a bar or similar establishment. Not recommended for those who want privacy, this is best suited for those who wouldn’t mind meeting various other interesting travellers.
