Injisuthi camp in the Injisuthi Valley lies within the borders of the Giant’s Castle Game Reserve in the Maloti Drakensberg Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The camp is located on the banks of the Injisuthi River – sometimes known as Old Woman Stream – in an unspoilt section of the park, with several interesting routes established through the wilderness for hikers, mountain climbers and day walkers to enjoy.
Injisuthi, also pronounced Injasuti, is directly translated as dog (inja) and satisfaction (suthi), although how this name was derived is a total mystery.
The towering Champagne Castle overlooks Injisuthi Valley which has 5 caves to explore; lower and upper Injisuthi, Marble Baths, Grindstone and Wonder Valley. A sixth, Battle Cave, is via a guided hike and may be out of bounds, check with your host.
