It was over a century ago that the world was to learn of the magnificent San rock art sites discovered in the Kamberg region created over a period dating back 4000 years. Notice of the art was first made in an article published in the Scientific American magazine in 1915.
The Kamberg, or Comb Mountain, so named because of its distinct jagged ridge that looks similar to that of the teeth of a comb, is located in the Maloti-Drakensberg Park in KwaZulu-Natal Province in a 6900ha reserve that encompasses the range.
Visit the Kamberg Interpretive Centre to begin your journey into the reserve. Guests are invited to watch a fascinating multimedia presentation and check out the displays. For those interested in visiting the spectacular Game Pass Shelter, guides are available to escort parties of up to 10 people.
