More info about Kimberley
What began as a discovery of a small shiny stone on the Orange River in 1866 culminated in an enormous diamond rush to the Kimberley area 5 years later, and eventually resulted in a town now firmly associated with diamonds. Kimberley is the capital of the Northern Cape Province in South Africa and takes its name from the Earl of Kimberley who annexed the diamond mines for Britain in 1873.
Kimberley’s most striking feature is the Big Hole, a gigantic hole created by miners seeking instant wealth. This massive manmade hole conceals the suffering and sacrifice made to source the jewels during the diamond boom that lasted for 43 years.

About Cottages
Guests escape the noise and bustle of lodges by opting to stay in either fully self-catering or bed and breakfast cottages. Self-catering cottages are a home away from home and come fully equipped with everything guests need. Most self catering cottages also come with a cleaning service, Dstv, and a private patio/entertainment area. Guests who opt for bed and breakfast cottages enjoy their own private patio/entertainment area, luxury amenities, Dstv, and cleaning service. There is often a small kitchenette, if guests wish to do a little cooking, and a relaxing lounge area. Cottages are ideal for families, small groups of friends and couples wishing for a more private retreat.
