Kleinmond Reviews
Still close to the city but with a slower pace of life. So many nature walks by the sea.
I love the relaxed small beach town feel of Kleinmond. The combination of a lovely beach and lagoon along with a great beach path walk and the shopping harbour is a perfect weekend getaway. Would love to explore more in future.
Local pub and restaurants.
Just enough activities so that it gives the feeling of a holiday destination but developed enough to cater for most needs.
Kleinmond is a beautiful and serene place. A true gem on the Cape Whale Coast
More info about Kleinmond
The charming coastal town of Kleinmond in the Overberg region of the Western Cape is included in the Kogelberg Biosphere Reserve, a UNESCO heritage site and regarded as one of the most important ecosystems in South Africa. Kleinmond is also on the Whale Coast route, a nursing area for Humpback, Bryde’s and Southern Right whale offspring during the breeding season.
Kleinmond, meaning Small Mouth in Afrikaans due to its location alongside a small river mouth, is populated with mostly holiday homes set amongst natural fynbos, wetlands and up against the Atlantic Ocean. It’s not uncommon to see baboon troops relaxing in someone’s garden nor is it a surprise to have to brake for a tortoise crossing the road.
The town is reached via one of the world’s most scenic coastal drives – Clarence Drive – and with a beautiful beach, calm lagoon and small but vibrant waterfront, Kleinmond is well worth a stayover.

About Guest Houses
For a more down to earth experience there are guest houses. Less expensive than hotels, they offer a more homey environment, as well as more privacy. Converted from a private house it’s a much gentler environment and for those with furry friends, there are also pet friendly options. They are usually well situated with shops and places of interest nearby. Being so small it offers a much more personal and intimate attention to it’s upkeep, leaving you with a more polished and homely experience.
