Located on the popular south coast of KwaZulu-Natal, Leisure Bay is a tiny, peaceful village boasting three divine beaches.
Leisure Bay is part of a strip of coastline referred to as the Hibiscus Coast, known for balmy weather, alluring swimming beaches where the sea temperature rarely deviates and lush green vegetation broken only by the occasional monkey and colourful splashes of the common Hibiscus flower.
The area is geared for huge influxes of visitors and during peak holiday season, Leisure bay’s safe swimming beaches are patrolled by lifeguards.

Things to do
Leisure Bay is all about a relaxing holiday at the beach. Bronze up the body and when it gets too hot, cool off in the warm Indian Ocean waters protected by shark nets and watched over by lifeguards. Neighbouring Trafalgar Beach is classified as a Blue Flag beach.
There are a number of primo surfing spots up and down this coast, the best known close to Leisure Bay are Glenmore Beach and Silver Beach in Port Edward. Look out for the schools of common and bottlenose dolphins.
Leisure Bay is a short drive from the Wild Coast Casino and a chance to visit authentic Xhosa villages dotted around the green hills along this section of the coast.
A Space Centre? That’s right, it’s located in the nearby town of Port Edward and contains an astronomical museum, one of the largest private collections of telescopes and an 80-seater planetarium.

The Commodore at the Wild Coast Sun in Port Edward is an upmarket restaurant offering exceptional meals in a private venue.
Try a taste of delicious and spicy Portuguese at the Fazenda Restauranté on the Mac Banana Estate in Munster (Glenmore). The restaurant has a lovey patio area.
Night Life
Enjoy an evening of gambling at the Wild Coast Sun followed by a few late night drinks at the Lagoon Bar.
Meet the locals and just chill out at Route 61 Pub & Diner in Glenmore.

Transport
Air King Shaka International Airport is 190km from Leisure Bay. Charters fly into Margate Airport, 20 minutes away from Leisure Bay.
Car The nearest car rental agency is at the Wild Coast Sun, however, there are many agencies at the King Shaka airport, or you could simply order a rental online.
Taxi A taxi ride from King Shaka airport to Leisure bay would be too expensive, rather take a shuttle service.

Regarded as the world's greatest marine spectacle, the Sardine Run off this part of the coast attracts the largest concentration of predators where dolphins, sharks and Bryde’s whales arrive in their thousands. Gannets plummet down from the air in a frenzied feasting of the sardines. The Sardine Run occurs annually between June and July.
Just north of Leisure Bay is the iTongazi River, the name iTongazi means ‘I don’t know’ in isiZulu.
