Mana Pools Accommodation

Mana Pools on the southern bank of the Zambezi River is one of southern Africa's top safari destinations. Mana Pools itself is best accessed via the lower Zambezi safari hub in Kariba - an easy air-hop from Victoria Falls or morning's drive from Lusaka in Zambia.

At Mana it is also possible to walk away from the campsite for a closer experience of the wildlife. Canoeing on the Zambezi is also highly recommended for game viewing and appreciating the unique geological landscape.

The reserve looks almost like a park with large Acacia Albida trees and open, grassy fields. Apart from its reputation for large and rich wildlife diversity, what makes Mana Pools particularly special is its unique scenery coupled with the large variations of bird life created by its rich and wild heritage. Mana Pools abounds with bird life; over 300 different species having been found there at various times of the year. Birdlife is also incredibly varied, with plovers, nyasa lovebird, and several varieties of eagle swooping and fluttering over the riverside woodlands.

Mana Pools National Park covers over 200 square kilometres and is the only game park in Zimbabwe with World Heritage listing. Black rhino, hounded to the brink of extinction elsewhere, can still be found. The survival of the black rhino is attracting worldwide publicity, yet it is but a small part of the far greater question of how mankind is going to reconcile his own needs with those of the myriad species who now depend on his good will. Fortunately, Zimbabwe is home to many experts on African wildlife who are deeply committed to ensuring that it will survive to enrich the lives of future generations.

Mana Pools National Park is the gem of the Zambezi River and one of Africa's crown jewels, Mana Pools National Park stretches from Ruckomechi Camp to Chikwenya Camp. It has a river frontage of 80 kilometres, which supports one of the highest wildlife concentrations in Zimbabwe.
