Marievale Bird Sanctuary Reviews
More info about Marievale Bird Sanctuary
The 1000ha Marievale Bird Sanctuary north of Nigel and 60km east of Johannesburg is a protected Ramsar wetland site (a wetland considered to be of international importance) and the preserve of a multitude of birdlife and a few small mammals. It’s a sanctuary for us humans too, a place to escape from the city’s stresses and unwind in quiet solitude.

Five bird hides have been constructed in strategic spots around the pans and there is a lovely picnic site to relax and appreciate the surroundings.
