More info about Modjadji Cycad Reserve
Steeped in legend and mystery, the Modjadji Cycad Reserve in the Limpopo Province is named after Modjadji, the queen of the North Sotho Lobedu tribe. For over 200 years, this tribe has been ruled by a female line of royals who are believed to hold powers to either withhold or bring the rains. African kings and chiefs consult her when crops need watering. She remains mostly out of the public eye at her royal palace which seems to add to her intrigue.
