More info about Oribi Gorge
In the sub-tropical, lush province of KwaZulu-Natal and inland of the south coast beaches lies Oribi Gorge, created by the forces of flowing water over the eons to form a 24km long, 5m wide chasm. The gorge is in some places over 500m deep and overflowing with thick vegetation and forest, with only the sheer brown sandstone cliffs unadorned, in sharp contrast to the surrounding greenery.
Oribi Gorge is located within the 1800ha Oribi Gorge Nature Reserve and is 150km from KwaZulu-Natal’s capital city Durban. The gorge is named after the rare Oribi antelope that is found here. Other animals in the reserve include baboons, monkeys, giraffe, zebra, various antelope species, water monitors and the infrequently seen leopard.
The reserve offers three superb hiking routes, the 7km Hoopoe Falls hike follows the river to reach a waterfall, the Mziki Trail – the longest at 9km – has the best views and the 5km Nkonka Walk... Show more
About Self Catering
Self Catering places can be found from rural to urban areas and can vary in what they offer. They allow plenty freedom and is a great inexpensive way to spend your holiday. They have been widely classified as a “Home away from home”. This is a good option for guests who don’t mind cooking their own food, and are looking for a more independent and flexible form of accommodation. For budget and large families, we would recommend self-catering for a more personalised experience.
