Pilanesberg Reviews
Game reserve was amazing ... beautiful landscape!
Wild animals and the nature.
Game drives. Scenery. Tented camp location.. Friendly warm staff. Clean facilities.
The game reserve and all the animals.
Everything.
Tented Adventures and game drives.
The Game Drive with an amazing ranger dubbed "the Buffalo solider", we had a free lunch which was in life's in the price.
The beautiful mountains and wild life just had me in a tranquil mode.
Definitely a do again for me.
The scenery is breathtaking and the wildlife is abundant. Sadly, the roads in the Pilanesburg are in terrible condition. Black Rhino Reserve however is well maintained and a spectacular place to visit.
ALL ANIMAL SIGHT OF ANIMALS AND RESORT FACILITIES..
Plenty of game. Routes well marked.
More info about Pilanesberg
The Pilanesberg area lies in an unusual and ancient geological formation known as a ring dyke complex. This phenomenon occurs when an underground volcano fails to erupt and the magma cools below the surface. The centre collapses and this is roughly where Pilanesberg’s Mankwe Dam is currently located. Millions of years of erosion then exposed the hard rocky mountains surrounding the ring.
In the 1960s, farms and tribal land in the Pilanesberg (named after the Tswana chief Pilane) was purchased by the government with a view to creating a national game park. Vast quantities of wildlife were introduced and today the Pilanesberg National Park is flourishing.
The area is easily accessed via direct scenic roads from Johannesburg and Pretoria and is a popular weekend getaway for these city’s residents.
The malaria-free game lodges and resorts in the area are sophisticated and comfortable, the roads are excellent, wildlife observable and the accommodation is luxurious, no rough living... Show more
