They are the Nile crocodile, one of the few man-eating predators on the planet and an ancient species that survived the dinosaurs. And what better place to view them and discover more about this fascinating reptile than the Riverbend Crocodile Farm, inland of Southbroom on the coast of KwaZulu-Natal Province?

The Riverbend Crocodile Farm was opened way back in 1981 and is a family-run business. Initially opened as a tourist attraction, it has become an important breeding centre. The facility has over 200 Nile crocodiles spread throughout the grounds in beautifully landscaped enclosures where visitors can safely view them from raised boardwalks. The onsite education centre provides a great deal of information relating to the lifecycle of the crocodile and displays many items of interest.
