The Cloof Wine Estate outside Darling in the Western Cape is the venue for Rocking the Daisies, a monster music festival that happens during the first week of October and an event that has been running successfully for over a decade. Thousands stream into the festival from the Thursday afternoon and pitch their tents that extend for hundreds of metres on a grassy field, to prepare for a long weekend of fun, partying and fresh beats.
Rocking the Daisies is super organised; there are loads of camping spots and parking facilities, clean ablutions and a dam to cool off when things get too heated. The food tent offers a range of eateries and the nearby drinks tent has a nice chill lounge and a place to style hair.
The main stage hosts the top headline acts that include SAs finest bands and hot international musicians.

For those who are a little adventurous and enjoy the company of other travellers, you can decide to stay at a Backpackers. Often having to share a room with others as well as costs, it is incredibly inexpensive. Often the best choice for those who may be just passing through or will be occupied for the majority of their day. It comes with the most basic amenities and is often formed as part of a bar or similar establishment. Not recommended for those who want privacy, this is best suited for those who wouldn’t mind meeting various other interesting travellers.
