Commuters using Johannesburg’s informal tax operators known as Minibus Taxis have their own hand signalling system to flash their destination to the driver without the vehicle having to stop. An example is one where the hand faces downwards and the fingers curled as though holding a ball. This indicates the destination is Orange Farm, an informal settlement outside of the city.
Rosebank was one of the first suburbs to have trolley-bus transport in Johannesburg.
