We stayed for four nights in one of the lakeside suites and wow, what an experience. The interior of both the suite and the Manor House is exceptional. The only problem was that the places we visited afterwards did not match the Hartford House standard. HIGHLY recommended.
Breathtaking beauty, attentive and warm hospitality from all staff, luxurious accommodation and world-class food. It was the most relaxing and rejuvenating 2 days, thank you!
After hearing about the upgrade on East Coast Radio and how excellent the service and food was, we were very disappointed in the overall attention to detail and service levels. The dinners which promised to be outstanding, left a lot to be desired.
Hartford house is pure and simple luxury. The gardens are immaculate, the attention to detail is clear everywhere you look. The service, food and comfort are all 5 star. The best breakfast I’ve had in the midlands by a country mile.
A surprise in the country side - super facilities; staff and food. Will definitely visit again!!

The roads are bad, but the farms and scenery are beautiful.
Don't let the Mooi River area that you have to drive through put you off.

Easy to do the whole Midllands from there, plus you are 2 hours closer to Joburg on the way home.
Peaceful and clean.
Fishing and the scenery.
Beautiful countryside to travel in and start the Midlands Meander back down towards Howick.
