The Etusis Nature Reserve covers more than 21,000 hectares, at an altitude of roughly 1,200 metres, and embraces a stretch of the Otjipatera Mountain range.

You are welcome to the Lodge's excellent accommodation, and to take part in an unequaled range of outdoor activities like scenic and sundowner drives and horse-riding for beginners and experienced riders. It is safe for walking on hiking trails with or without a guide offering unique opportunities of sighting a variety of mammals, birds and insects. If you prefer, you can just relax in the idyllic surroundings. You can enjoy a swim. The accommodation ranges from homely, comfortable bungalows, to luxury tents and a farmhouse for self-catering.

The Lodge is also home to the Etusis to conserve the endangered Hartmann's Mountain Zebra and your hosts are always delighted to explain it and to answer your questions.

Hospitality is at its very best here and everyone feels at home the instant they arrive. Hardly surprising, therefore that Etusis Lodge has received a Gold Award from the Hospitality Association of Namibia (HAN) almost every year since 2000.

Etusis Campsite is situated opposite the C32 about 20 km from the Lodge. It is a beautiful place with lots of shade and a neat ablution block with warm water showers.

In Room Facilities:

Seven Luxury Bungalows, all well spaced for privacy. Each has a private en-suite bathroom and sleeps four, in twin beds downstairs and two single beds in the upstairs loft which is ideal for children. A coffee / tea station, mini-bar and cooling fan are installed.

Five Luxury Tents are also well spaced and each include a power point. Three have private shower facilities while the other two share a communal bathroom, which is ideal for families.

The Farmhouse sleeps 2-7 people with self-catering facilities. It has four bedrooms, (3 double with en-suite bathrooms and 1 single sharing a bathroom) a kitchen and a lounge.

Five Campsites are situated 20 km from the Lodge and shaded by trees and bushes. Each has its own braai area (barbecue). Communal ablution facilities serve all five camp-sites.

Property Facilities:

Foremost amongst the Lodge facilities must be the magnificent Lodge building which is at the heart of Etusis.

The Lodge is unusual in being very substantial, including a two storey central section - although you might miss it when you first arrive! Only the entrance doors give it away.

Inside it is very spacious with a comfortable lounge area, a well-stocked bar, and a large space for dining inside, as well as an outdoor patio where meals are usually served. It also houses a library and DVD/video room for children's entertainment.

Not far away, the splendid swimming pool sparkles in the sun where guests can take in the mountain panorama while cooling off.

Dining is a joy, with Guests and Hosts all sharing one table, excellent food and wine, and discussing at length the day's events or the many questions raised about this fascinating place called Etusis.

Attractions:

Guided or un-guided Nature Walk:
Whether you want to take a leisurely stroll or climb a mountain, there is a route to suit you at Etusis Lodge, and there's plenty of wildlife to see wherever you go. We also offer full day walking excursion in the cooler months (between May-August) with a picnic lunch on route.

Nature and Scenic Drives:
Etusis Lodge offers drives through the Nature Reserve using both 4x4 vehicles and eco-friendly horse-drawn carriages! Amazingly varied scenery and hopefully good sightings of the wildlife.

Sundowner Drives:
One of the best times of day to spot wildlife - and what better than swapping the day's stories over a cold drink.

Horse-riding:
Enjoy an exhilarating ride through the Reserve on one of our Basotho horses specially selected to suit you - indemnity required. We also offer riding lessons for children, this is an ideal way to get children interested in riding and leave them with treasured memories.

Rock-climbing:
The unique geology of the Otjipatera Mountains offers exciting possibilities for experienced and qualified climbers.

Even More Opportunities:
Mountain-biking, collecting mineral samples, star-gazing with telescope, discovering the world of the Hartmann's Mountain Zebra . . . so much, you'll have to return to Etusis Lodge to do it all!
And don't forget the fascinating little on-site museum where you can see artefacts from a earlier times.
