Welcome to Welgevonden Guest House.
This charming Guesthouse is situated on a smallholding in the heart of the Klein Karoo, on the edge of Calitzdorp, 300 m off the main road and 50 km west of Oudtshoorn. The four double en-suite bedrooms are tastefully decorated and furnished with country style pieces. Enjoy the generous hospitality and relax in the lounge with open fireplace, TV, games, books and kitchenette. A country style breakfast is served at an extra rate..
The rooms are in an outbuilding dating back to 1880. All the rooms open onto a verandah which overlooks the garden. Reed ceilings, patchwork quilts, cross-stitch wallhangings, down duvets and family heirloom furniture reflects the lifestyle of the Klein Karoo. Exactly halfway between Cape Town and Port Elizabeth, the town is surrounded by mountain passes, scenic drives, 4x4 routes and outdoor activities, 60 km from the Cango Caves. The area around Calitzdorp is famous for many endangered succulents.

The first time (70yr) I can express "THE BEST KEPT SECRTET': everything was MORE perfect as it seemed online. Comfort was only exceeded by the beauty and tranquility of large luscious garden, Most thoughtful and gracious hostess. Served with Hot coffee and homemade rusks on arrival.
Tourist Information was available in folders and the hostess gave more useful information. (Very knowledgable ) Kitchen contains everything one needs BUT the wood supplied for the indoor, well operating fire place could not have completed a perfect stay better.
The breakfast served in the main house was not only to order but all the attention to presentation and preferences deserves special mentioning.
THIS IS THE PLACE TO STAY!!!
We stayed in the guesthouse twice 28 years ago. We came back a third time now and enjoyed again. The owner is a great hostess, she fulfilled all our wishes. We enjoyed the exceptional breakfast.

Nature and tranquility.
We were all pleasantly surprised on how beautiful the area around Calitzdorp are especially where we stayed at Matjiesvlei Cottages. There are three wine cellars with great restaurants which makes it worth your while to visit.
