The Mont d'Or Swartberg Hotel is a charming four star Victorian hotel, situated in the heart of our quaint Karoo village, Prince Albert. Established as a hotel in 1864, the Swartberg is now one of 19 national monuments in the village and is still the only hotel in Prince Albert today.
In Room Facilities:Each of the spacious rooms is comfortably furnished with an elegant Victorian feel.

Prince Albert is easily accessed from the N1 and is the perfect stopover if you are travelling between Cape Town and the interior of South Africa. The road to Prince Albert from the N2 is a little longer, however the magnificent sights of Meiringspoort or the Swartberg Pass are truly breathtaking, and a chance to experience either should not be missed.

Reviews
The Swartberg Hotel in Prince Albert is the real deal if you want to get away to a small town hotel, yet still have modern comforts. The staff are exceptionally friendly and go out of their way to help in any way they can. The hotel has been renovated, and it is clear that the new owners (since 2017) have put a lot of thought, care and money into the hotel. Highly recommended!
A superb hotel in an idyllic village. Restaurant is first class as is the all round service.
Was heel goed! Goede ontvangst van de gastvrouw, lekker ontbijt! Wel geen internet op de kamer en een veel te klein bed!
Nice place.Staff are very friendly and helpful. Room was nice. Food was good. Secure parking was good.
Enjoyed the tranquillity in the hotel grounds.
Prince Albert is a nice rural town to visit, it's managed to retain its character.
This Hotel exceeded my expectations with respect to value for money, customer service and the food. Stylish and clean room. Lovely location in the heart of the main strip.

Prince Albert Reviews
Beautiful small town situated in the Karoo. Very friendly and accomadating people.
Swartberg Pass access.
Galleries and restaurants.
Like visiting the past.
'n Absolute moet besoek juweel in die Karoo.
Great food, shops and Swartberg pass is a must-do.
Everything!
It is a beautiful little town with good coffee, G & T's ( best ever at the local hotel) and friendly people.
The main road setting, restuarants, fleemarket, musuem. Cleanliness, Friendly People.
Lovely little gem of a town. Lots of things to do, eateries and little shops and galleries to visit. At the base of the most spectacular mountain pass in all Africa.
The charm and character of this town impressed me. The Karoo gardens are beautiful and there are interesting local products for sale. I recommend the book shop in Marlene's home.
Peace and quiet; feeling of safety; good clean air. We attended a wonderful photographic course with Louis Botha.
