Area Information:Velddrif is a busy fishing village located at the mouth of the Berg River. It is quite normal to see fishing boats filled with mackrel, pilchards, anchovies and rock lobsters sailing up the river.
As Velddrif lies just 2km away from the Berg River, which washes out in to the nearby St Helena Bay, the village is renowned for its water sports namely surfing, swimming, and boating; fishing is also a popular pastime here and lures many avid anglers who really revel in fishing in these tranquil surroundings.
The original site of Velddrif was the fording place across the river. It has now been replaced with a bridge and the shallows are a natural habitat for flamingos, spoonbills, avocets and even the glossy ibis can be found here.
Available to all Villas is a communal swimming pool and a gym. Private & communal "braai" facilities. Beach. Books/games/umbrellas/beach chairs and many more for rent.
Attractions:Regular boat trips are taken up the Bergriver to view birds, e.g. flamingoes and pelicans. This is one of the best birding experiences on the West Coast. The annual Berg River Canoe Marathon ends at Velddrif, and ocean going yachts have found this a safe basin to moor in. The area also offers good fishing, for both boat and rock or surf anglers. Furthermore, Velddrif is also home to a number of art galleries; this isn't very surprising because this enthralling and scenic landscape is surely a muse for many artists even a few local fishermen have produced works of arts for these local galleries. Other attractions to visit while in Velddrif include the West Coast National Park, the West Coast Fossil Park and the fisherman's museum.

We had a lovely stay. Everything was neat and beautiful. Andre and the aunt at reception was very friendly. A must to visit these villas. We will visit every time we are around.
