An intimate forest lodge with sweeping views of the Hluhluwe river floodplain offering great comfort and hospitality for travellers exploring Hluhluwe's game reserves and wildlife attractions

The chalets are separate from the main lodge building and tucked away privately in the surrounding forested environment. The main lodge complex includes a reception, a lounge with a stunning view of the lake as well as a dining room and a bar lounge

Meals are most often taken outside on the terrace where every night the staff light a fire ( in winter ) and guests can share a few stories of their day

In Room Facilities:

*The accommodation at the Lodge consists of two romantic Honeymoon Chalets, two Family Chalets (with extra space for the kids) and eight Standard Chalets

*Each chalet is an A-frame structure providing plenty of light, constructed of timber with a thatch roof and is among the mature indigenous trees which make for a beautiful wilderness setting. The chalets are all comfortably furnished and tastefully decorated

*All rooms are air-conditioned
*En-suite bathroom
*Electronic Safe
*Coffee and tea station.

*Self-catering chalets are also available for those looking for extra seclusion.

Area Information:

*The Isimangaliso Wetland Park is 332 000 hectares and consists of both beach and bush destinations. It was listed as South Africa’s first World Heritage Site in December 1999

*Hluhluwe River Lodge is a great location if you want to explore.

The Memorial gate is a 30-minute drive from the lodge and the coastal and marine reserves of Sodwana Bay, Cape Vidal and St Lucia are just an hour's drive from the lodge

Property Facilities:

*5 single-speed bikes available for bike trips to False Bay Park, these bikes are suitable for novice riders or a relaxed ride.
*Outdoor swimming pool
*Restaurant
*Bar
*Free Wifi
*Local Museum
*Walking trails

Attractions:

*Game drives: Hluhluwe iMfolozi Park is 97 000 hectares in extent and consists of two distinct areas namely the northern Hluhluwe section and the southern iMfolozi section. To fully appreciate the whole area one would need a full day to explore the Park. This can either be done as a self-drive ( in your own vehicle without a guide ) or with a professional Safari operator in an open-game viewing vehicle. (Subject to availability)

*Mountain biking: We recommend a ride to False Bay Park which is a 2300-hectare reserve hugging the western shoreline of Lake St Lucia, and forms part of the iSimangaliso Wetland Park. This is a 20-kilometre ride which is flat and easy to ride for novice riders. This wonderfully scenic ride passes through beautiful coastal forests on smooth tar and gravel roads and there are a number of lookout points for picnic stops. The lodge provides helmets, gloves and backpacks for carrying water and a picnic snack

Walking: Upon request, we offer guided walks into False Bay Park which includes forest and lakeshore experiences where the focus is on the little details and magic of our greatest asset, the Sand Forest
Other adventure activities: Horse trails, mountain bike trails, guided or self-guided walks, Evening Spider walks, Pineapple tours, animal interaction etc
