Welcome to Cabbage Tree Cottage.
We are on the Midlands Meander, conveniently situated on 9 acres of indigenous bush and garden, overlooking the Winterskloof Valley, approximately 19kms (15mins) from Central Pietermaritzburg and 3 kms (3mins) from Crossways Hotel in Hilton. We are within close travelling distance to St Annes, Hilton, Cowan House and Cordwalles.
* We have a B&B cottage, with twin beds and a deck overlooking the valley
* 2 rooms available with double beds and a bathroom, lounge and verandah.
* Breakfast is optional at R90 per person per day
* Cars are securely parked behind electronic gates
* 24 hour complimentary tea and coffee with homemade rusks
This tranquil Valley has an abundance of birds, wild animals and indigenous flora and fauna. While having breakfast or sundowners on the deck you can hear the river in the background, birds singing and foraging in the bush.
We serve eggs from our free range hens and vegetables and salads from our own garden. Meals are available on request. Our tastefully decorated rooms with down duvets, electric blankets and a heater will ensure our guests will be comfortable and will enjoy their stay with us.

A lovely little cottage overlooking the valley. Everything was lush and green. Kevin was very welcoming and friendly. A great little escape.
Very comfortable bed and good room facilities. Breakfast was great. Host, Jenny very friendly.
I have just spent the most fabulous 3 nights at Cabbage Tree Cottage and cannot give higher praise!
The Hosts are great, and if Jenny ever offers you an Omelette for breakfast - don't even think twice.... The best Omelette I have ever had the pleasure of eating! The scrambled eggs were also special - 1 day with spring onion and the other with mushrooms - superb!
And then there's the homemade Rusks - to die for.... There are so many little extra's which really make it special - lovely body wash in the shower - tea and coffee and milk are also provided.
Not to mention the super comfortable bed and the marshmallow soft Down Duvet which made getting out of bed really difficult. The Deck and the beautiful view over the valley were awesome, with an abundance of bird life to really add to the nature experience...
So close to modern conveniences, yet it felt like I was in the middle of nowhere.
Also, last but by no means least -Dianna the Housekeeper is truly amazing,
All in all - I cannot give higher praise for the most wonderfully relaxing breakaway - thanks to all at Cabbage Tree Cottage. - I'll be back :-)
Comfortable bed, good breakfast, friendly hosts, 20 minutes from Hilton College. Accommodated our request for an early breakfast.
Will stay there again if I need to be in Hilton.
