Memra Guest House is situated in a safe and quiet residential area in Ladysmith and is the ideal place to stay if you are travelling to this area for business or pleasure. The well-known KwaZulu-Natal Battlefields and a golf course are in close proximity. A shopping centre and the La Verna hospital are within walking distance.

Area Information:Ladysmith is a city in the Uthukela District of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. It is 230 kilometres (140 mi) north-west of Durban and 365 kilometers (227 mi) south of Johannesburg. Ladysmith is located on the banks of the Klip River ("stone river"). It is on the foothills of the Drakensberg mountains, about 26 km from the Van Reenen pass.

Attractions:Ladysmith's main asset is the history... having made headlines worldwide when it was besieged for 118 days by Boer forces during the Anglo Boer war. There are historical buildings in Ladysmith about which visitors may not know much but are definitely worth adding to their itineraries. Places of interest to visit are the Mohandas Gandhi statue outside the Vishnu Temple. The Town Hall was built in 1893 and during the early stages of the siege, the hall was used as a hospital. It was declared a National monument in 1979. Outside the Town Hall is the replica of the Long Toms used during the 118 day Seige of Ladysmith. To describe the Seige Museum as just a Museum would be unfair, it is a living , breathing repository of the town's History. Worthwhile to visit. Ladysmith serves as a Gateway to the much sought after Drakenberg site - one of South Africa's prime tourist destinations. The Okhahkamba Drakensberg - from hiking and walking in the mountains, to quad biking, swinging trapeze and rafting. The adrenaline junkie and those looking for peaceful tranquility will both find what they are looking for.
It also serves the home for four-time Grammy award winners " Ladysmith Black Mambazo" drawing thousands of visitors to its well-documented historic sites each year. Thanks to its year-round pleasant weather, Ladysmith also hosts a large number of events throughout the year.

An outstanding, value for money establishment. The unit was clean and tastefully arranged. Magda, the host was very friendly and accommodating. Premises is secure. Location was ideal for my two stay. Will recommend this place unreservedly
