Lovely location, comfortable accommodation and helpful hosts
I chose this accommodation for its lovely views over the mountains, which didn't disappoint. Every one of the 3 units have amazing views. the 2 connected units are higher up on the yard, and have front porches overlooking the mountains as well as a back porch that is covered by a green reeper ( cant recall if its fine/ passion fruit). The top units seems a bit newer. The yard is lovely, with a swing, fruit trees and some space to roam around. The premises is right next to the Jonkershoek reserve (the back gate of the reserve) , so the road is very quiet. The unit which is connected to the house if south facing, so can feel very chilly, but at least there is a heater. It seems to be a granny flat converted to a guest room, so you will find some interesting kitchen utensils, like in your granny's cupboards. Take filter coffee, as they have a machine. hear dryer in the main bedroom cupboard. The living room doesn't have a couch, but 4 chairs and a coffee table. The rooms have great feather duvets, and the pillows are a collection of feather as well a non feather. There are no card facilities - so make sure you EFT the last portion of the payment at arrival.
If you are on a budget but still want to stay in Stellenbosch, this it the place to go! Though the unit is tiny, it is stocked with all the necessities one might need and it is clean! And the surrounding views is breathtaking, nothing better than waking up here, enjoy a cup of coffee and one of the delicious rusks!
We had a lovely stay at Kierie Kwaak. Lovely setting against the mountain, the brook passing the house, good quality linens, excellent rusks and crunchies. The friendly Labrador who looked after us, but went home the door was closed on her. Our 9 year old, loved it especially.
Two night away with my daughter to go hiking in the Jonkershoek Nature Reserve. We had initially booked 2 weeks prior, but it rained torrentially and the owner, Sonja, very kindly permitted us to shift our dates and we were lucky with wonderful weather.
A little brook trickles past the comfortable verandah of the two adjoining units. The unit is tiny but neat, offering all that you may require. Comfy cozy beds with many fluffy blankets and lots of towels. Kitchen stocked with all necessities including delicious home-baked crunchies and rusks. The shower/bathroom is absolutely tiny but adequate. No shortage of hot water. Everything is frog-themed! From the green crockery to the little frog sculptures all over, it's a fun theme carried through the property.
The Reserve is just a few km's further along and offers wonderful hiking and biking trails with rock pools, waterfalls and a marvellous diversity of proteas and other indigenous plants.
This lovely hide-away cannot be beat for tranquility. If you are looking to relax in beautiful surroundings, close enough to shops and the picturesque winelands but tucked into the mountain-side with no passing traffic, this is a gem.
