Add an "experience" to your memories. A Hilltop Country Retreat offers a variety of self-catering rooms to choose from, modern and functional but put together with an artistic slant. Most finishes and furniture were made by local entrepreneurs and artists. The spacious rooms make a longer term stay easy and comfortable.
Our accommodation gives great value for money and all rooms come with en-suite bathrooms and fully equipped self-catering kitchens. Private patios offers spectacular views of the garden, Langeberg Mountains and Swellendam itself. Sleeping here takes on a new meaning with King size beds, fitted with 100% cotton sheets (TC400) and down duvets. Twin beds can be requested upon making your reservation.
We offer guests the option of a fully stocked fridge for breakfast, so you can enjoy it in the privacy of your own room or patio, at a time convenient for yourself and your family. Don't feel like going out for lunch? Have a picnic in the garden.

The apartments are wonderful. With your own fireplace for chilly nights, a full equipped kitchen, a very clean bathroom and large, comfortable bed, lovely interior. We also got some great recommendations for restaurants nearby. Very much recommended!
Loved it, nice and quiet staff are amazing! Our room got upgraded free of charge! The bed was nice and comfy, plus we had a fire in our room which made it really cozy. Cycling tracks are awesome but make sure you know which way to go as it is quite easy to get lost! We will be back.

The place is absolutely fabulous, the apartment is well equipped and neatly decorated. The bed is comfortable and the braai station just cool. Also the entire property is so neatly set up with an eye to the detail. It is very unfortunate that we only stayed 1 night.
We had a wonderful stay at the Hilltop Retreat. As we arrived we were immediately greeted by Lana who took time to explain local attractions that are worth visiting on our stay. Swellendam has so much to offer! We immediately felt at home in the luxurious surroundings, and will be sure to return for a longer period in the future. I can fully recommend Hilltop Country Retreat. We only stayed for one night which was a shame but Jane welcomed us like good friends. Our room was very comfortable with everything you could possibly wish for and more. It is situated in a very quiet road with amazing views all around and the town of Swellendam was friendly and inviting. We took Alison, the resident dog, for a walk in the morning before we left and were spoilt with fantastic views of the mountains behind. I met Lana on the morning we left and again was welcomed with open arms. A great stay and I hope to be back one day. Thank you.
Eine wunderschöne Unterkunft in einer traumhaften Landschaft! Lana and Jane sorgen für eine herzliche und willkommene Atmosphäre! Wir kommen gerne wieder! Auch kinder sind hier willkommen! Die Lage lädt zum erkunden des fussläufig zu erreichenden Natur reservars ein sowie zum schlendern durch den Ort. Swellendam ist auf jeden Fall ein Besuch wert und bietet großartige Restaurants entlang der Hauptstraße!

La Belle Alliance restaurant is AMAZING for breakfast!
I enjoyed Aan De Eike Guesthouse, My room were clean and the service were excellent.I felt very safe enjoyed every moment since I arrived. Swellendam is beautiful with most beautiful views. The location was very convenient and would recommend The Republican Restaurant. The food and vibe were awesome. It's safe to walk in Swellendam, what a beautiful place for entertainment

Scenery, the residents, the roads are in great condition (compared to many many many other towns/cities in SA).
Wildebraam Estate. Friendly people. No traffic. Has all the shops and places one needs.
