Karen Blixen Camp in the Masai Mara offers an authentic yesteryear experience for visitors wishing to gain that little extra from their safari
Set on the bank of the Mara River, the location is spectacular. Throughout the day elephants, giraffes, zebras and impalas come for a drink while a large hippo pod rest lazily in the river.
The Camp gives a feeling of the early 1920s era with beautiful and comfortable furniture. You will find that Karen Blixen Camp is a step back in time with the luxury of today.
Karen Blixen Camp comprises 22 large luxury canvas tents each placed with undisturbed view along the Mara River. The stylish restaurant, the reception, the lounge and bar and the gift shop with internet are set on a raised wooden deck and furnished with accurate reproductions of Karen Blixens private furniture to fit in with the cozy atmosphere.
The beautiful laid swimming pool offers relaxation and even a little exercise in-between game drives. Our resident masseuse offers a wide range of wellness and beauty treatments.

Each tent is en-suite and furnished with a large comfortable bed, Persian rugs and a cozy armchair giving you the ultimate in camping luxury. The private bathroom has a flush toilet, twin wash hand basins and a romantic outside shower with amazing view to the sky. Water is heated using solar panels to avoid any use of firewood and thus conserving the Mara Woodlands. Electricity is provided in all tents 24 hours a day by extended solar panel system and battery storing bank.

We, a family of four, had a wonderful stay at this beautiful camp which is located along a river. We had breakfast and lunch whilst watching hippos, giraffes, birds and a crocodile from the lounge/deck. Food was sumptuous and staff was incredibly friendly. Our anniversary cake was a great surprise.
The tents were spacious, comfy and beautifully decorated. It was great that we were sharing the same balcony. Our guide, Kennedy, was knowledgable and able to spot a broad variety of animals.the game drives were great - we saw so many animals from nearby. The kids are still talking about it.
There are no words to describe this experience! It was luxury from top to bottom. The accomodations were lovely and unique, my kids loved the hot water bottles in their beds in the evening. The food was delicious and the activities were fun (bead making, pool). But the true experince are the game drives and they did not disappoint. We saw so many animals, ate amazing meals surrounded by nature and had experienced guides to help us. Kisme was fantastic with my kids, they are still talking about him and Dennis was incredible on getting us organized. We saw lions from mere feet away and had elephants walking up to our jeep. It was out of a movie. My son was even able to go play some futbol with local children. Everything was handled to perfection, I would go back in a heartbeat!
We had such an amazing time here. The camp was wonderful, and we felt so well looked after. The food was delicious, with plenty of choice even for vegetarians and kids who can be fussy. The tents were lovely, though we were mainly asleep because the drives were so tiring (in a good way)! We felt so lucky to have Lorna as our driver and guide - she is so knowledgeable and enthusiastic. She really wanted us to see a leopard and in the end we did! Back at camp we were very well looked after by Job. We were genuinely sad to leave - we’ll remember our three and a bit days there forever.
I love this camp. They take great care of myself and others I take there. Even though the food has not improved over the years I will continue to come back. The camp sits on the banks of the Mara River with hippos laughing day and night, can't get enough.
We visited Karen Blixen Camp to coincide with the Great Migration. This was our first visit to Africa but our travelling companions fifth, and their third stay at Karen Blixen Camp. Karen Blixen was the third safari lodge of a 2 month African trip and was definitely the standout. Solomon and all his staff were exceptional with special mention of Lorna our guide and David our waiter. The glamping tent accommodation is ideal and the endless supply of high quality food and drinks is delicious and waist expanding! Lorna’s skill in locating the animals that we wanted to see each day was exceptional, culminating in a Wilderbeest / Zebra river crossing with a large croc grabbing an easy Zebra lunch. Compared to other safari’s we experienced in South Africa (which we also enjoyed), Karen Blixen Camp and The Mara is our definite favourite…we will return!
Vi hade en fantastisk upplevelse på Karen Blixen Camp. Flodhästar, lejon, giraffer och krokodiler var några av de djur vi såg direkt från tältet, restaurangen och övriga området. Vänlig och generös personal. Vi kände oss omhändertagna och trygga.
Incredible location by the river where you can see hippos all the time. Tents are large, cosy and very nicely furnished. Staff welcoming and nice.
Special mention to our guide Jonathan who drove us throughout Mara North. We had incredible safaris, we saw all big 5, a leopard, a cheetah several times, a gazelle giving birth, absolutely wonderful way to start the new year.

KBC (Karen Blixen Camp - Mara) has an excellent location in the Mara North Conservancy, truly enjoyed the place, service, food as been vegetarians we didn't have to ask for more! Tents are spacious, clean, nice however not the WOW effect, but defiantly good.
Jeg og min søster var her, og det er vores absolutte bedste oplevelse i vores liv. Virkelig skønt personale, og vi kommer helt sikkert tilbage. Man føler sig virkelig velkommen og de står på hovedet for alle deres gæster. Vi er lige kommet hjem, og savner allerede vores Jack, Job, Florence, Benson og alle de andre. Så dejligt et sted at slappe af efter morgen og aften safari, som er en helt vildt utrolig oplevelse.. Jack er virkelig en utrolig safariguide som ved ALT, og man føler sig helt tryg i hans jeep.
