Today, much of the forests remain and the grasslands are mostly planted with avocado, macadamia and bluegums. The property is usually below the mountain mist yet out of the intense lowveld heat. We do experience very wet conditions in summer.
Dragonwyck Farm is a working farm producing avocados, kiwis and indigenous plants. We practise natural farming methods and as a result have many birds and animals coexisting with us on the farm. We do our best to offer our guests peace and quiet and the opportunity to get the most enjoyment from our environment. Each cottage is surrounded by indigenous plants providing the ideal habitat for many birds and animals. There are walks on the farm which follow the streams and provide access to escarpment forest.
Property Facilities:The kitchens are fully equipped for self-catering with a gas stove, fridge/freezer and microwave. A braai stand is supplied. We supply firewood for the indoor fireplaces, please bring your own braaiwood or charcoal. The cottages are no-smoking zones; smokers are kindly requested to smoke outside. Regret no pets allowed.
Attractions:Woodbush forest, one of the premier birding spots in South Africa, is a short drive away. Both grassland and bushveld habitats are also a short drive away. There are a number of scenic drives in the district for excellent bird watching opportunities. Fishing and mountain biking are on offer in the Haenertsburg area.
Reviews
We had a wonderful stay, even with rainy cold weather. Very peaceful and relaxing! The birding was great, and saw some really nice forest birds. Saw Cape parrots fly over, every evening.
The walking trails are well marked, and some beautiful scenery.
The house was very comfortable and clean, the fire place was a bonus!
The only draw back might be the entry road, a low profile sedan will definitely struggle with the 2km drive. 4x4 is not necessary but high clearance is advisable.
This was our 4th visit, and we will be back! It is a wonderful place to visit!
The tranquillity and all the different birds makes our stay very enjoyable.
Really away from it all. Peace and quiet.
What a magical location! The cottage had everything you needed and is well suited for both summer and winter. Trogan cottage has an indoor fire/braai and an outdoor splash pool, and the highlight, an outside bath to watch the stars. Peaceful location and lovely walks on the property. A birders paradise!
A lovely getaway. Remote and peaceful. Birds galore!
What an amazing stay. This is defenitely our new home away from home. The cottage is so nice, cozy and clean. The view and peace and quiet is amazing. Was such a romantic weekend with me and my hubby in front of the fireplace. Will definitely recomend for a peaceful break away. Thank you Mark and to all the staff that keep everything well maintained.
We had a lovely time in the cottage cozying up with the fire. The outside bath was a lovely to spot to spend time in the sun reading a book and the walks were lovely. We did get rather lost though so make sure you stick to the MBC signs.
A High Clearance Vehicle would make the drive to the cottages much easier, but I think generally in Magoebaskloof having a HCV would be useful.
Fantastic stay in a very secluded part of the kloof. Mark and staff are very helpful. Will surely visit again to walk the river walk once more.
Well equipped Cottage. Very good bed-spacious, comfortable with a delightful plunge pool and a romantic bath outside-weather permitting. Owner's delightful and very helpful.
Great place to get away from it all.
Was allowed to Bird ring which was a huge plus for me.
Bird life magnificent plus lovely walks in and around.
Highly recommendable!

Magoebaskloof Reviews
Kuhestan farm cottage offers the best self catering accommodation. Their gardens are so beautiful and the atmosphere so relaxing. Actually this is our second visit in four months.. I think we'll be back in the not too distant future.
Lots of outdoor activities. There is something for everyone. Really good food and good views. Go hiking, birding, driving, adventurous activities, eating, drinking or just relax. Very dog friendly.
The Herb Cottage was lovely, situated in the this lush Forrest.
Tzaneen area absolutely great.
If you got a 4x4 take the forest drive in Woodbush Forest.
Forest walks by the Dap Naude dam.
Scenic.
We loved our stay at Lind-End, we stayed in the Studio which was very pleasing with its modern decor and facilities. Apple TV with Netflix, Prime Video and Showmax. A Braai Area, and a outside deck with an amazing view of the George's Valley. They have a gorgeous pool on the site which is shared with other guest, we were lucky that we had the farm to our self for the most part. Our host Samantha was excellent, and provided us with lots of ideas of what to do in the area. We enjoyed many walks in the mist and rain and in the sunshine right from outside the Lind-end Gate, and also loved the Louis Changouin Trail from Haenertsburg. Would definitely be back again.
Beautiful forests, dams and good options available to eat out!
Visited the Berry farm to pick organic Berries, and really enjoyed lunch and cheese cake at the restaurant.
Also visited Pot and Plaugh for their very famous pizza.
Scenery!!!!! Fruit!!!!
