Surrounded by the majestic Swartberg mountains and beautiful farm landscapes, Prince Albert remains the authentic Karoo come Victorian town. On the main street, centrally located in an iconic modernized Victorian home is 81 on Church. This guest house is an undiscovered gem, home away from home, luxurious comforts and Johan as a warm, witty and engaging host. The best kept secret is the oasis of a garden that Johan has lovingly created in the back. Some of the rooms and cottages look onto this abundantly green and magnificent display of textures and colour. This provides a tranquil, cool and beautiful space to retreat to with an inviting secluded pool and pavilion.
Johan has known Prince Albert for the last 20 years, and has lovingly restored and built onto the previously popular guest house MAI’s Guest Lodge. This is the perfect breakaway for extended families – the six rooms sleep 17 people and you can have the privacy of the whole place on your own. You are a few minutes walk away from the hotel, all the restaurants , coffee shops and amenities that the town provides.

Reviews
Exceptional accommodation right on the main street.
Johan was a wonderful host and very helpful.
We stayed in the Spekboom Cottage which was exceptional.
Spacious, wonderful shower and very comfortable bed with a private patio to enjoy.
The gardens are something else and hard to describe. Clearly much effort has gone into the gardens.
It was also great to have secure parking inside the premises and easy access to the main street with many eating places within 100m of the property.
Would most certainly stay here again if we were visiting.
Prince Albert was a wonderful stop over on our way back to Durban but would consider a 2 night stay if time allowed.
Very homely and rustic accommodation with simple charm. Warm welcome from Johann. Good breakfast in local hotel. Enjoyed our one night at Prince Albert.

Prince Albert Reviews
Beautiful small town situated in the Karoo. Very friendly and accomadating people.
Swartberg Pass access.
Galleries and restaurants.
Like visiting the past.
'n Absolute moet besoek juweel in die Karoo.
Great food, shops and Swartberg pass is a must-do.
Everything!
It is a beautiful little town with good coffee, G & T's ( best ever at the local hotel) and friendly people.
The main road setting, restuarants, fleemarket, musuem. Cleanliness, Friendly People.
Lovely little gem of a town. Lots of things to do, eateries and little shops and galleries to visit. At the base of the most spectacular mountain pass in all Africa.
The charm and character of this town impressed me. The Karoo gardens are beautiful and there are interesting local products for sale. I recommend the book shop in Marlene's home.
Peace and quiet; feeling of safety; good clean air. We attended a wonderful photographic course with Louis Botha.
