City Bowl: Long Street is one of the oldest streets in Cape Town with a length of 3.8 kilometres. In the late 1800s it really was the longest street in the town centre, reaching from the harbour up to Tamboerskloof. Architecturally it is noted for the numerous Victorian buildings with cast-iron balcony railings which have been well restored over the last years. It is famous as a bohemian hang out and the street is lined with many book stores, ethnic restaurants and bars and art galleries. At night Long Street comes alive and is popular with both locals and tourists. A visit to Cape Town is only complete with a night out in Long Street.
