The Wilderness Hotel has a grand tradition as a honeymoon spot, a family hotel and a tourist and business destination.
It’s steeped in tradition and it’s got a warm, old-style charm, but it’s also a modern hotel with all the facilities you need.
The 150-bedroom property boasts a beauty spa, two swimming pools, a bowling green, two tennis courts, a squash court and six banqueting halls and conference rooms – the largest of which can accommodate up to 400 delegates in cinema style.
The Wilderness Hotel is situated almost in the centre of the Garden Route – it’s about 45 minutes’ drive to both Mossel Bay and Knysna, and a little less than an hour to Oudtshoorn in the Klein Karoo, so it’s perfectly placed for tour groups and individuals who want a base from which to explore the region.

We stayed in an adjoining room which was not soundproof at all- could hear every word that was said by our neighbors. Aircon and extractor fan in our room needed maintenance. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
The wilderness hotel is in a perfect location for locals and tourists close to all the amenities-beach and shops. The layout of the hotel is great centered around the pool and entertainment area.
The breakfast is the highlight- great variety and inclusive .Many activities for the kids at the hotel. A two star experience overall. Many things should be improved especially as clients are paying peak season 3-4 star rates .
Great location in beautiful surroundings; reception was not great, had to find the room ourselves and carry own luggage - big hotel.

Wilderness is one of the most beautiful places in South Africa. There is the ocean with beautiful, quiet beaches, Forrest and river.

Wilderness offers a wide variety of activities for all ages with an abundance of hiking trails, canoe offerings and paragliding available, whilst being surrounded by some of the most pristine beaches our country has to offer. If you love nature and adventure, Wilderness is your playground. For daytrips, you have the option of visiting neighbouring areas including George, Sedgefield, Knysna and Plettenberg. This is definitely a home away from home.
