Take time out from your busy schedule, book a weekend away at Makhato 84 and in a short while you can be sitting around a glowing fire, listening to the sounds of the bushveld and breathing in fresh air under the milky way.
Makhato 84 is a bush lodge located in the Sondela Nature Reserve in the Limpopo Province, which is just outside the town of Bela-Bela. It is approximately 90 minutes from Johannesburg International Airport and Sandton. The lodge is one of few units with an undisturbed view and with the perk of having no neighbours nearby. Sondela offers a variety of wildlife interaction, nature walks, horse and quad safaris. At Makhato 84 you are guaranteed to see Njalas (which are exceptionally tame and love all kinds of fruit), giraffe, blouwildebeest, zebra, warthog, meerkat and many other species - right there on your doorstep!

We had a great 2 night's stay at Makhato 84, excellent property, spacious bedrooms, animals (Giraffes, Kudu's Nyala's, Blue Wildebeests, Warthogs and Springboks) came to visit us more often. The lodge is far from the day visitor's area which gave us the privacy and tranquility we needed. Definitely we will return soon. The lodge was just a perfect setup to celebrate a Mother's Day weekend.
Family had an awesome time.
All was well. Visited this luxury place for the third time but always a wish to be joined by my family who enjoyed the place for the first time. It is our desire visit again in 2021 provided a 5 to 7 days booking can be available. It is a luxurious, safe and nice quiet place to be.
We had an absolutely wonderful weekend with our children and baby granddaughter. We loved the waterhole as there was often animals or birds to see. The house was very comfortable and well equipped. The lady who came to clean was amazing - very efficient, warm and friendly - she is a keeper.
It’s a place that offers tranquility, peace and privacy. The animals keep to themselves and do not cause any disturbance. The house is spacious and well maintained. Mary the house helper was very professional, did her work with a smile. She cleaned very well during our weekend stay.
It was a great value for money. Wildlife at your door. The sounds of the birds. Clean place with beautiful bush surroundings. The staff was friendly. Great activities. Great place to bond with family or friends.
The staff was very friendly from the main gate to the reception. The guys at the reception also explained to us about the activities that were available. I loved the fact that it was quiet, such a great place to relax and bond with friends. The sounds of the birds and the animals at night. The inyalas coming close to the chalets and feeding them. I also love the fact that there was everything available for us eg. cutlery and utensils.
It was a lovely evening all round and will definitely visit again.
Fabulous location, great value for money, easy to pay via credit card from UK to SA, easy to communicate with property, near shops and restaurants, but far away enough to have the proper bush experience.

Loved it.
We booked for just one night, but we would have loved to stay longer. The house is beautiful, and the surroundings are even better. We saw lots of animals including zebras and giraffes. For us, it was the perfect start of our vacation in South-Africa!
