Situated on the brow of what was once known as Noble Hill, in the picturesque KwaZulu Natal Midlands and overlooking Giant’s Castle Mountain Range, Old Rearsby Farm is the place that dreams are made of.

Area Information:Mooi River is a farming and textile centre which was originally named Lawrenceville after the Irish farmer who formalised its settlement during the 1800s. Mooi River took its name from the Voortrekker description of its river - "mooi" '(translates as pretty). In Zulu, however, the river is Mpofana, meaning "Place of the Eland". Some parts of the Mooi river offer excellent boating facilities. The upper reaches are ideal for fly-fishing. Further upstream, the Mooi River Falls are a marvellous site when the river is in flood.
Outside the town, the Craigieburn Dam has camping sites and picnic spots. Popular outdoor activities include trout fishing, which can be done in the rivers in the district. The Mooi River Falls are located 25km from the town. Watersport such as boating, canoeing, tubing can be done on the Mooi River.

If a decadent shopping spree is what our guests have in mind, they will not be disappointed. The Midlands Meander is pandora’s box, all of it’s own. From décor, to linen, beautiful jewelery, to fine art galleries, sculptors, ceramics, wood turners, glass studios, and even our own little fairy shoppe.
Not for the faint hearted, is the midlands hot air ballooning experience. Weather permitting, you will be taken on a hot air ride over our beautiful countryside, and Drakensberg foothills, failing which, guests could take the opportunity of horseriding, trout fishing or berg hiking. All of the above must be booked in advance.

The roads are bad, but the farms and scenery are beautiful.
Don't let the Mooi River area that you have to drive through put you off.
