Hluhluwe Gate Safari Camp has accommodation in four chalets, each sleeping 2 people. All the rooms have en-suite bathrooms with a shower, a bar fridge and a private balcony overlooking the Hluhluwe and Umfolozi Big 5 Game Reserve. The lodge is 1 min from the Hliuhluwe gate for easy access.
In the new year, if all goes well, more units will be built to provide various other accommodation options. So watch this space!!
The Hluhluwe Gate Bush Camp has a large communal entertainment area. A central kitchen is on hand for those guests self catering, with fridges, gas stove and utensils provided.
There is a cozy lounge and bar area, as well as a dining room near the accommodation. Braai facilities are present, and a fantastic fire pit provides the perfect spot to gather round the camp fire and watch the sun set over the Hluhluwe Umfolozi Game Reserve, while the lions roar and the hyenas cackle in the distance.
Being a mere 150m from the Hluhluwe and Umfolozi Game Reserve fence line, means you can be on a game drive within minutes! Self drive yourself in the reserve or book an open vehicle safari experience with us. Fully inclusive tours and safaris from Durban are available for the Big 5 experience of a lifetime!
Please note that the kitchen is a communal kitchen.

As always it was a comfortable and peaceful stay. Jabulani welcomed us and was very helpful.
We have sbtayed here a few times already and will highly recommend it.
This is the third time we have stayed here and we have no complaints. Very comfortable and conveniently close to the gate of the Park. The staff are really friendly and helpful.
It's a perfect location if your plan is to visit the reserve. From your private patio, you'll have fabulous views of the reserve as the sun sets. We saw a large family of elephants in the late afternoon.
The buildings and rooms are exactly as pictured online. Very basic but clean. Bed linens were clean and comfortable. The young man who attended to us was very professional, friendly and helpful. We used the braai area to cook and he organized firewood for the lapa. There's a communal kitchen and an indoor dining area which we didn't use. As we were the only guests there, our night was quiet and enjoyable.
Overall, it's a really great safe location with good value as long as you don't mind self-catering and basic amenities.
Its the 2nd time we have stayed at Hluhluwe Gate Safari Camp. And we have absolutely no complaints. The staff are super helpful and friendly. The views are stunning, its quiet and has everything you need. The units are clean and very neat. Thank you. We will definitely be back.
The service was lovely, the water is nice and hot, the beds are very comfortable and the kitchen is quite convenient. All equipment is available on site. Not to mention waking up to nature and seeing some wildlife from afar!
An amazing, camp site very basic so you have the real bush feeling , staff was unbelievable they were so kind and helpful, the room was just big enough for the two of us and with the most amazing view , you could see the animals in the reserve using binoculars,
Accommodation a little rough around the edges. Comfortable beds. Friendly staff. Very convenient location for Memorial gate. Loved watching game through our binoculars from our balcony.
Perfect place to stay if your main goal is to spend time in the parks. The rooms are basic (with plans to upgrade) but they were clean; beds were comfortable and water hot with good pressure. The staff were amazing - even helping us change our flat tire at 4:30 in the morning. Great value for the price.
We had an amazing time in at the Safari Gate Camp. Muza was so helpful in organizing everything and trying to help us with our Safari adventure. He is the perfect host and has a great team. The welcoming was beautiful and the whole team is doing a great job. I just can recommend the Safari Gate Camp. The location is peaceful and exactly the right for having a great time to enjoy the nature and having a braai with friends. We were so happy to stay in this camp.
