The romantic resort of Wilderness lies 15 km east of George, between the Kaaimans River in the West and the Goukamma Nature Reserve in the east, bordered by the Outeniqua Mountains in the north and the Indian Ocean in the south. Wilderness is renowned for its vast stretches of beach, its peace and tranquillity and the absence of windswept headlands and wild, stormy seas. The long stretch of beach embraces the mouths of the Touw and Kaaimans Rivers, and is backed by northward cliffs over which the fringe of the forest reaches down to sea level.
Wilderness not only overlooks the sea, but also the placid lagoon (Touw River Estuary), the Serpentine, which meanders between the Touw River, Island Lake and Rondevlei. This is a favourite venue for waterskiing and attracts enthusiasts from far and wide. Recreational activities in Wilderness include hiking, mountain-biking, bird- and whale-watching, hang- and paragliding, horseriding, scenic drives, day tours, angling, boating and other water sports.
Excellent viewpoints are Map of Africa with breathtaking scenery of forests, lakes, mountains and coastline and Dolphin's Point, an excellent vantage point from which to study whales and dolphins. Kaaimans River Bridge is a much favoured spot for photography.
Property Facilities:Canoeing, swimming, paragliding, forest trails, bird-watching, golfing and horse riding are just some of the myriad of fun activities to do in the immediate vicinity. Wilderness is the centre of the Garden Route, situated between Oudsthoorn and Plettenberg Bay (one hour either way), for neighbouring sight seeing.
Attractions:The supermarket and various restaurants are situated across the road, a mere two-minute walk, offering a wide variety of food options. Wilderness Waters is ideally situated for business trips as George and Knysna are close by. The Garden Route Mall shopping centre is less than 6km away.

This was the perfect breakaway. The facility is in excellent condition. Amazing design and decor. Great setting. Ruan, the facility manager is a gem. So considerate and caring. Naomi ensures that the apartment is in mint condition. Very highly recommended as a top quality venue.
I couldn't have chosen a nicer place to stay. We were met by Ruan - all the Covid protocols adhered to very strictly, explained how everything worked, suggested places to visit and where we could find meals if we wanted to eat out. When we went for a walk one morning very early came back to find our beds made and the apartment looking so fresh and clean - folded towels - braai area cleaned - Naoomi was a gem. Views from Seaside View apartment were absolutely awesome. We sat outside most mornings and evenings when we were there - we could have sundowners, eat and look at the most amazing views of the sea, touws river and the lake. Safe parking and we loved being in the Wilderness - so much to do in and around the area. Ran out of time!!

Ruan our host and his unit at Wilderness Waters was over the top amazing!!! Everything you could possibly want was at your finger tips...everything top notch perfection. The location was magical...minutes from shops & restaurants by foot....and a perfect home base for exploring "The Garden Route"
