Modderkloof farm is situated at the foot of the Drakenstein Mountains near the Huguenot Tunnel on the N1. The working fruit farm produces guavas, plums, buchu and wine grapes. Grapes are delivered to Boland Wine Cellars. The building that we use for guests was the home of Cornel and Elize Grobbelaar (third generation Grobbelaars) which was renovated recently and divided to accommodate 3 self catering units. It is about 10 minutes drive from the town centre, local schools and hospitals. The main residence of the farm is on the same site as the guest apartments. Guests are welcome to use the swimming pool at the main residence or go for a walk higher up on the farm where one have a beautiful view of the valley, Paarl Mountain, the Taalmonument and on a cloudless day you will also see Table Mountain. Mountain bikes welcome! Guests can also play tennis on the available tennis court. Pack a picnic basket and find a spot anywhere on the farm to relax and enjoy the beauty and tranquility of nature. We are members of the Drakenstein farm watch with a working alarm system in the guest areas. We are happy to arrange a tour of the farm for guests.
In Room Facilities:There are 2 residences on the farm, one of which has been converted into 3 self-catering apartments. The main residence is home to the owners of the farm. The 3 self-catering apartments are equipped with kitchenettes, TV's, and linen and towels. Pets are not permitted as the owners have pets of their own. Both apartments offer garden views, and guests have access to secure parking.
Area Information:Paarl is the third-oldest town in South Africa. Its attractive Cape Dutch homes, famous vineyards and glistening mountain range beckon year-round. The town's rich fauna and flora forms part of the numerous attractions of the region.
Property Facilities:Each with its own patio and braai area.
Secure Parking
Guests are welcome to make use of the swimming pool at the main residence, and the tennis court, and can also enjoy walking on the farm. There are restaurants located nearby in the town of Paarl, as well as wine farms, polo and golf estates, and wedding venues in the area.

Very neat, clean and convenient.
The quiet farm atmosphere was awesome.
Thee most peaceful space, not only to gather your thoughts, but to have a good quality time with your loved ones.
What a little magical getaway. We were greeted by a very warm hostess, who was very gracious and kind. Everything you need is in the cottage, and it was very comfortable and homely. Stunning views and lots of walking trails - perfect to unwind from city life.
WE loved it so much that we have already booked our next stay!!!!
Great hostess, beautiful location rooms are clean and has everything you need. However not ideal if you are not a dog person.
Most beautiful surroundings. Definitely children friendly with lots of games and space. Nice big plaas stoep. Embracing welcome and sent off from both husband and wife. Chairs everywhere. Good balance between old and new - thankfully new addition are bedrooms and bathrooms. Wife was totally enchanted.

Paarl Reviews
Best hospitality we have experienced in a very long time.
People go out of their way to accommodate you with the simplest things.
Loved the following places with helpful and friendly staff contributing to an a-lister experience-
Nine Oaks- beautiful venue with a little shop, restaurant and bar area on site. We stayed here for 4 nights and it really is a little hidden gem.
Spice Route- as always we had an amazing experience with the most beautiful views, charcuterie and cheese boards, wines, spices and beer and cider tastings. So much to do in so little time.
Bellaire Pavillion- stunning venue. Beautiful views! Lush green! Variety of little hidden gems all rolled into one venue. If we had more time I would've explored the venue more to see what else it had to offer ♡
Picardie- 5 star experience. Read the review. Nuff said ♡♡♡♡♡
Fairview- Have been to Fairview before. Love the Goats at the entrance. Love the Goatshed restaurant- we had breakfast there- we had the best muesli and yoghurt we have ever had!!! Even if you are not a great fan of a cold breakfast- try it- it might convert your tastebuds!
I have to also give a shout out to all the little local bars we visited- we felt part of the local crowd in no time.
Black Steers Kitchen- wow- what a stunning view and once again accommodating us so last minute to share a bit of what you had to offer to end off our travels on a high note before going for one last Hooray to...
Bossa Paarl- what a way to end a perfect holiday party!
See you all soon hartsmense en hartsplekke. Tot weersiens!
lots to do , safe and clean
Quiet, clean and friendly
Divine greenery.
The vineyards and weather!
Highly recommended to anyone who needs peace, beauty in surrounding and to relax!!
Nice evening vibe. Sushi buffet was Devine!
Visiting the wineries.
The Spice Route is definitely a plus. But the town itself has some stunning spots. There are open green parks along the river which are perfect for picnics, and there are ample shops and restaurants to enjoy.
The farm scenery.
