Bed and Breakfast by the Sea is situated in Salt Rock, KwaZulu-Natal. Onluy 15 minutes North of the New Durban King Shaka International Airport - 45 minutes north of Durban CBD & Soccer Stadium, 20 minutes North of Gateway Shopping Mall, on the main N2 route North to St Lucia Wetlands & Hluhluwe/Umfolozi Game Reserves.

Our delightful en-suite accommodation overlooks the beach and offers sweeping views of the sparkling blue Indian Ocean. You can enjoy a full English breakfast whilst keeping an eye out for the many dolphins to be found along our coast. You may even be lucky enough to spot a whale!

We enjoyed our stay very much, Sue upgraded our room and we got to enjoy spectacular views of the blue sea, comfortable beds and very quiet and calming atmosphere. Not suitable for noisy kids but overall our stay was marvellous. We had secure parking as well. We recommend for taking time out in a nice quiet place.

I stayed from 22 April to 02 May 2021 - 10 days of pure bliss! Sue picked me up from the airport and arranged a drop off there again - at R150 per trip - Uber, etc cost R200 - R250.00 per trip. My cosy and comfortable Queen bedroom (great bed and linen) with large full modern bathroom was clean and kept clean. Only 2 steps to the balcony, with amazing 180 degree sea/surf views ! Sue served me a full english breakfast on this balcony every morning. Wow to have breakfast, drinks or just sit there and watch the sea alone was awesome, add the peaceful ambience and you are on cloud nine! Just steps from the front door is the swimming pool with lounge chairs and a braai area - a beautiful spot on windy days. Cats, dogs, chickens (fresher eggs you won`t get) and geese roam around with surprise visits by some monkeys now and again! Beach is 300 meters walking distance - but please note: steep climb - a car is essential if you want to explore, since Uber/Bolt/etc not active in that area at all - call Go Balito (Lesley and Louise) for urgent rides. Sue always offered a free ride whenever she had to go somewhere. There is a coffee tea station in the room, with a full fridge/freezer and microwave in the adjacent entry room with an extra single bed and guest toilet. If you like walking, one can walk to the beach and along the beach about 3kms to some other beautiful areas, like Saltrock main beach where the Saltrock Hotel offers nice casual and formal dining as well as Canelands club and spa, 2 Shrimps restaurant, etc. A little further south are Thompson`s and Willard beaches, Granny`s and lots of other tidal pools, with lifeguard stations. I loved my stay with Sue and will definitely go back again next year for some essential R&R !

Salt Rock has beautiful beaches and plenty of pet friendly beaches and pools! Lots of great restaurants where you can also bring your pooch, some will even offer them a menu too! Really a great location for a perfect family holiday!
