Popular and long standing family run establishment (est. 1999) situated only 50m from the beach at Ansteys Beach on the Bluff, a leafy suburb 15 kms south of Durban and 40kms from King Shaka Airport. We offer warm hospitality and comfortable, affordable accommodation options, set over three properties in a lovely tropical garden with a swimming pool.
Favoured by business and leisure travellers, sports & tour groups, we cater for all budgets and offer 11 fully equipped thoughtfully decorated Self Catering Apartments (2, 4 or 6 sleepers), Private air conditioned Rooms (Backpackers), and budget Backpacker dorms, doubles, twins and single cabins.
In Room Facilities:All Self Catering Apartments come fully equipped with kitchens, air-conditioning (some), DSTV Hotel Package and some have sea views. Apartments are serviced daily, except for Sundays and Public Holidays. Please note, servicing does not include washing of dishes.
Private Rooms (Backpackers) : 3 separate rooms in one house sharing a bathroom and separate toilet. Bar fridge, kettle. Shared communal kitchen, dining room and lounge in main Backpackers building.
Budget Backpacker dorms, doubles and twins are not ensuite – shared communal bathrooms. Communal kitchen, dining room and TV lounge in main building.
Close to many shops, shopping centres and restaurants, as well as all the major tourist attractions in KZN such as uShaka Marine World, Suncoast Casino, the ICC and the Sports Stadiums. Durban beachfront is only 15 kms from Ansteys, and King Shaka Airport 40 kms away.
For our business clients, we are within close proximity to all the industrial centres – Jacobs, Maydon Wharf, Prospecton, Clairwood, Bayhead etc.
The Bluff is rich in beautiful beaches and lifeguard protected swimming beaches, good consistent surf and warm seawater all year. Perfect base for day trips to Kwazulu Natal's many tourist attractions - just ask our front desk for more info.
Property Facilities:Heidi's Cafe - a wonderfully quaint little cafe with exceptionally priced meals. Outdoor swimming pool with multiple barbecue areas. Pool table and small licensed bar. Small surf/curio shop next to the backpackers communal lounge. Bicycles, surf and bodyboard rentals
Attractions:Our beautiful unspoiled beaches, great swimming beaches, whale and dolphin viewing, kiddies paddling pools at Ansteys and Brighton beaches, tidal pool, swim, surf, kite board, windsurfing. Excellent home base for day trips to game parks and all KZN Tourist attractions. Great people, great coffee and great food at Heidi's Cafe!

Wow, we had a wonderful weekend and the children were so excited and really enjoyed our outing. The staff was so friendly, the rooms were clean. We will definitely go back again.

I stayed at Ansteys in October 2019 with couple of friends for 3 nights...the service was excellent and staff was very friendly....even helped us get a cab to the shopping centre....very reliable....my boyfriend and I are planning to go again this year...now that I know Ansteys I cannot imagine staying anywhere
The 2 nights I spent in a cottage was perfect wish I had stayed there from day one staff was kind and service was excellent.

We had a pleasant stay with Ansteys Beach. The staff are helpful and friendly and help when issues arise with the minimum of fuss. The dorms are cosy and above all clean.Overall it was a positive experience given that it is a backpackers.
Beautiful view from the cottage to the beach. Weather was miserable but weekend was peaceful and enjoyed time to reflect.

What a fantastic stay we had at Ansteys Beach. Its a very peaceful and calming place. Just a few steps from the room to the beach. You can view the ocean while standing by the balcony. We have enjoyed our stay.

Cleanliness and friendly, helpful staff. Close to restaurants and ocean.
Garvies surf house is the best guest house to stay during your visit. Me and my cousins enjoyed every moment, watching whales and dolphins through the window was the best memory. Shops are nearby. Very neat, quiet and friendly staff. I am definitely going there again for the third time.
