Join us at The Treehouse River Lodge to enjoy your own bushveld holiday in the beautiful Shongweni Valley. The lodge neighbours the Shongweni Dam and a game reserve. It is situated only 30 minutes from Durban and 12 minutes from sporting and shopping facilities, excellent restaurants and tourist routes.
Your hosts, Sue, Allys, and Bradley invite you to join them in this secluded natural setting where you can experience the beautiful cry of the fish eagle, or explore the hiking trails in and around the area.
We offer three thatched log cabins, all with en-suite bathrooms. Two of our chalets have adjoining kitchenettes and an extra bedroom with double bunk beds. These are both fully equipped with fridge, freezer, cutlery, microwave and hotplate, while all chalets have tea and coffee making facilities.
There are braai areas overlooking the Sterkspruit River, and a thatched lapa where guests can enjoy their breakfasts (available at a nominal extra cost). We offer laundry services on request, and secure under-cover parking.
Please note all chalets have been redecorated therefore actual rooms may differ.
The self-catering chalets come with an additional surcharge of R350 for your entire stay. Should you request this option please enquire beforehand.

Amazing host and Amazing venue. Beautiful views and tree houses. Perfect for nature and animal lovers.
A wonderful experience all round. Relaxing river sounds surrounded by trees and a stunning view from your bed. Sue, the hostess is a treat. We stayed for Christmas and came back for new years. The children's cabin is separate from the main, which makes it ideal when you have teens. Room is comfortable and snug. Braai facilities overlooking the river. Other guests where pleasant. The perfect distance from town, to feel peaceful but not isolated. I would recommend a stay to anyone and will definitely return again.
Spent Friday and Saturday 9 - 10 Sept 22, My Mon and 1 had the most Wonderful stay there. Stunning views, Fantastic Bird Life, out in Nature gave us time to renew our souls. Sue was a fabulous Hostess and so enjoyed our breakfasts, wow they were delicious. Clean and comfortable Chalets and you can hear the river running by, so peaceful.
My one night stay was excellent and I highly recommend the Treehouse River Lodge. Comfortable
bed with clean sheets and towels. Beautiful views and an extremely pleasant and helpful hostess (Sue).
I spent a midweek stay at the Lodge during September. A wonderful, tranquil experience in a rustic but well catered for & comfortable venue. The perfect place as well as a nearby spot for those neighbouring city dwellers that look to escape the hectic city life. Sue, the hostess, is a wonderful, hospitable person who goes the extra mile to ensure that guests are always well catered for & entertained. Will most certainly recommend a vist to all & sundry as well as revisiting the venue again.
The perfect bush get away for those city dwellers that live in nearby neighbouring cities. Guests from all walks of life will find this venue most appealing. Rustic, but very comfortable accommodation with all the relevant requirements to make your stay memorable.
