Area Information:
St Helena Bay is one of the world's principal fishing centres. The cold Benguela current surges upwards along this part of the coast and brings nutrient rich waters to the bay resulting in the abundant sea life.
St Helena Bay is a popular tourist destination, particularly during the spring wild flower season, with visitors from all over the world who come to explore the west coast national park & to relax on the private beach while dipping your toes in the Atlantic.
St Helena Bay is one of the most popular bays for whales to visit and calve. From August to November, the Southern Right Whales come in to the bay to calve, and can be viewed from the shore all around the bay. Humpback whales are also present in the area.
Heaviside's dolphins are found in large numbers at any time along with schools of dusky and common dolphins. Large groups can be seen chasing fish along the shore or simply flying through the waves out of sheer enjoyment.
To top it all off, we have some of the best kite-surfing opportunities on our door-step.

Nice vibe
Quaint place with great landscape. Very convenient restaurants & eating places with superb & friendly staff.
The whole area and places to see.
Scenic drives. Clean and modern SPAR supermarket. But generally DEAD - no coffee shops or restaurants. The hotel at St Helena was closed and Paternoster do not accept dogs at their outdoor eating facilities. The historic landmark at the landing place of Vasco da Gama at St Helena Bay was a meeting place for vagrants, and had a pile of litter and very little appeal. Nothing whatsoever to do in St Helena Bay.
