Garden Route Game Lodge is delighted to announce the latest addition to its accommodation portfolio, Sunset Ridge Luxury Rooms.
Aptly named for its location, the five luxury free standing rooms are perched atop a small ridge and offer 180 degree views of the game reserve with magical sunsets.
Sunset Ridge now joins the existing portfolio of rooms and chalets offered by the Big 5 game reserve.
Access to the 5 new units is exclusively via private golf cart transfer from reception by your game ranger.
Designed by local architect Sylvie Vantillard with input from Nicholas Plewman the free standing rooms have a Karoo meets Game Reserve appeal. The site appropriate design ensures that living areas as well as bathrooms enjoy north facing views of the game reserve, while a south entry and north facing layout provides that wow factor upon entering each unit as the game reserve reveals itself beyond the stacking glass doors. The contemporary design is softened by the use of locally sourced natural stone and locally harvested bluegum poles and latte.
Our spacious Lodge rooms combine luxury and comfort with an African theme. Complete with en-suite bathrooms. These rooms are ideal for families.

Enjoy a thrilling game drive in an open Landrover with your experienced game ranger who will bring you sightings of lion, elephant, white rhino, buffalo and cheetah.
Garden Route Game Lodge is also home to giraffes, zebra and numerous antelope species such as bontebok, red hartebeest, kudu, eland, impala, springbuck and many more.
Complete your day visit with a relaxing lunch on the wooden deck of our stunning Serengeti’s Restaurant which looks out over the game reserve. Savour one of our famous traditional South African dishes from our a la carte menu and a refreshing drink as you reflect on the day’s activity.

Very good, everything we hoped
for, the accommodation was excellent in the Sunset suite and the food was delicious.
Very enjoyable. Game Rangers gave a lot of interesting facts and the sunset drinks was a great experience. The spa was very relaxing and the therapists are very professional.
Overall it was a great weekend and the food was delicious.

We had a wonderful experience. Staff are professional, friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The food is great, the game drives were fabulous. The facilities and things you can do are abundant and kids will have an amazing time, not to mention peaceful. We stay in the luxury suite which is hidden away and private with view of the waterhole. We will definitely be back.

Unbelievable kids friendly, we even brought our 11 months old on two game drives. Separate kids pool, great meal choices for kids & stunning, newly renovated family suites. Amazing location, a bit off the beaten track but then again, you’re going for safari & game drives. Great reptile center and kids activity in the afternoon so allow mama and Dada some free time!
Hannes was an incredible ranger who shared so much Knowledge about the animals - we had an amazing time! Food was really nice too.
The family suites are exceptionally beautiful, they exceeded our expectations. With magnificent views and a beautiful bath and shower outdoors. The suites have a lot of facilities in the room as well. All staff is very service-oriented - from the rangers to the waiters - they all are. The rangers (we had Janco and Gerrit) really go out of their way to make the game drives amazing, they are very knowledgeable and explain a lot about the animals and even the flora, and made it a great adventure also for our children (aged 7-17 years). The pool area is also excellent, incl enough sun beds for all guests. All together, I can highly recommend this lodge if you want to see the Big 5 on driving distance from Cape Town. Thank you for 3 great days!!
