Please note that we do not do Sunday check-ins. Please do not start your booking on a Sunday. Exceptions may be made for stays of 4 or more days.
In Room Facilities:Each self-catering cottage is very spacious, with 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and and a large open plan living area. The cottage can sleep up to 7 people; the main bedroom has a double bed and en-suite bathroom; the other two twin bedrooms share a bathroom. The kitchen is well equipped, with a large fridge with freezer compartment, gas stove and microwave. The living area is bright and comfortable with a log burning stove to make it cosy on winter evenings. The front leads out onto wooden decking with stunning views across the Overberg, while at the back of each cottage is a dedicated braai area looking up towards Phillipskop. Each cottage is surrounded by beautiful natural vegetation, and during your stay you are free to explore the reserve.
Area Information:Phillipskop Mountain Reserve occupies a 246 ha area of the fynbos-covered southern slopes of the Klein River Mountains. The reserve is part of the Cape Floristic Region, world-renowned for its exceptionally high plant diversity. Over 500 species of plant grow in the reserve as well as numerous bird and animal species. Each deck of the chalets has sweeping views overlooking the Klein River valley, from the Akkedisberg to Gansbaai.
Property Facilities:Three hiking trails have been built suitable for varying abilities and ages. Along the trails you can discover a small waterfall, a picnic tree, great for climbing, fascinating rock features such as the David and Goliath Rock Stacks, and most importantly Phillipskop Cave. The cave is a local heritage site of high significance due to the presence of Khoe-San rock art, the only recorded rock art on the Cape Whale Coast. There is also a jungle gym for children.
Attractions:The village of Stanford offers many attractions in the way of small shops, cafés, art galleries and restaurants. Boat trips on the Klein River are great for a relaxing afternoon or early morning bird watching. The Klein River Farmstead just below the reserve is famous for its cheese and the farm shop is located at Birkenhead Breweries just outside Stanford. Many wine estates can also be found in the area, which now has its own wine route.

Reviews
Hi there
Our stay was beautiful, peaceful, fantastic, exhilarating.
An oxygen overload.
Fabulous place, spacious, spotlessly clean and amazing views. Has lovely walking trails on the mountain above the cottages and is close to the village of Stanford. We went with friends for a weekend and were also supplied with 2 stretchers for 2 extras that joined us for 1 night. Good value for money, good service from the management and would definitely stay here again.
Good stay-posted comments on their Facebook page.
Had the most amazing experience in the most beautiful setting! The cottage is really well equipped with the most comfortable beds (which is vital after a hike) and you'll only need to bring your clothes, food and hiking essentials.
We will definitely be back :)
