Welcome to 57 Mark Street!
Stepping into this beautiful, historic 125-year-old Karoo cottage in Prince Albert, you are reminded for a moment of a time when folk used to sit on the vine-covered patio gazing at the stars glinting behind mountain silhouettes and listened to the gushing of the water and chiming church bells.
This fresh, quaint cottage still has its original wooden floors and high ceilings and has been lovingly restored featuring quality touches that promise a very comfortable stay. It is centrally located, but private and you can choose to stroll to the restaurant of your choice or simply explore the picturesque streets.
The cottage can accommodate up to 6 guests and consists of 3 spacious bedrooms and 2 stylish bathrooms, one with an original iron bath and another with a large shower. The main bedroom is furnished with a comfortable queen size bed, while the second bedroom has a double bed and the third bedroom offers 2 single beds.
The kitchen is equipped with 2-plate stove with a mini-oven, a fridge, a microwave, a kettle and a toaster, and there is a dining table with 6 chairs, as well as a wood-burning stove in the old fireplace in the kitchen. There is also an outdoor braai area and an undercover seating area with a large dining table and chairs.
We are family friendly: Located in the quiet and peaceful town of Prince Albert, where children and the elderly can still walk around and feel safe, with a lot of wide open spaces, and many interesting things to do in the town and area.

The Hostess was most hospitable, thanks. There are three bedrooms but none are en-suite, and the one bathroom is through the kitchen - also the only one with a bath. It is probably better suited to a large family than multiple couples. Also, the shower is rather tricky to set for warm water so it takes a while to get it right, which uses lots of water in a water scarce place. I would try a different shower head to see if that works better.
There is a lovely backyard barbecue area and eight-person dining table - maybe the best feature.

It is a beautiful little town with good coffee, G & T's ( best ever at the local hotel) and friendly people.
The main road setting, restuarants, fleemarket, musuem. Cleanliness, Friendly People.
Lovely little gem of a town. Lots of things to do, eateries and little shops and galleries to visit. At the base of the most spectacular mountain pass in all Africa.
The charm and character of this town impressed me. The Karoo gardens are beautiful and there are interesting local products for sale. I recommend the book shop in Marlene's home.
Peace and quiet; feeling of safety; good clean air. We attended a wonderful photographic course with Louis Botha.
