Dunelm Guest Farm is situated near Clarens, in the centre of the mountainous Brandwater Basin of the Eastern Free State, near the Lesotho border.
The guest farm offers luxury, self-catering units all with beautiful views over the farm and sandstone mountains. Each unit has 2 bedrooms and en-suite bathrooms and each room have a heater. The main bedroom has a double bed and an en-suite bathroom fitted with a shower, basin, toilet and heated towel rail. The second bedroom has 2 single beds and an en-suite bathroom with a bath, basin, toilet and heated towel rail. All linen, blankets and towels included. Complimentary body wash, soap, shampoo and body lotion for the first night's stay are also included.
The spacious lounge has a built-in gas fireplace and is tastefully decorated.The lounge has an LCD TV with DStv connected with selected channels. It has a fully equipped kitchen with wooden cupboards and granite tops. On arrival, complimentary tea, coffee, sugar and milk are included as well as a sherry/wine. There is also a complimentary bag of charcoal for the first braai. The units are serviced on weekends for a fee of R50 (except for Sundays and public holidays). Each has a covered patio with a built-in braai.
The guest farm also offers covered parking for guests' vehicles.
Things to do on the farm includes long and short walking trails, game viewing, fishing, swimming in the pool. The farm is on the R711, 17 km from Clarens in the direction of Fouriesburg. The gravel road from turn off to accommodation is approximately 1 km and guests need to enquire beforehand about the condition of the road.

Amazing stay and experience.
Absolutely perfect, couldn't have asked for a better break-away. Juan and Ronel were very accommodating and went out of their way to make our stay a memorable one. Charcoal, firelighters, milk, coffee and tea were supplied. Kit Kat very welcoming. Chalet very comfortable and homely. Hikes are well marked and easy to find your way around. The animals are great to see. The Maluti mountains totally breathtaking, had an amazing storm. Will definitely visit Dunelm again. Exceptional place!!
What a lovely place to stay. We initially looked for somewhere in walking distance to Clarens town center for the "vibe" but were so happy that we chose Dunelm, and the drive to town was much shorter than we thought it would, and beautiful scenery. We could experience the peace, quiet, comfort and privacy while also going into town on occasion. A wonderful blend of the two.
The attention to detail was also well noted at Dunelm with the little chocolates, milk in the fridge and bag of briquettes. It felt like home away from home. The llamas were also a welcome surprise.
We'll definitely be back and can't recommend it enough!
Me and my wife were very much impressed. Everything is in working order and very clean. You get real value for your money and even more. We enjoyed the privacy, the peace and quiet. Next time we visit, we will bring more family.
We had a wonderful stay at Dunelm! Ronel very kindly upgraded us from the 'Hide away' chalet to Chalet 1 which was so well equipped, comfortable and luxurious with lots of small extras that made it even more special. Dunelm has several fabulous walks on a working farm with lots of sheep, buck and bird life to enjoy, and historic sites like the obelisk memorial and cave with bushman art. Great location too between Clarens and Fouriesburg, and is situated close to the main road but far away enough not to be disturbed by the traffic. Would highly recommend for a relaxing break away from the rat race.

Such a tranquil, beautiful farm and close to Clarens.
Units are modern, well equipped, clean and very comfortable with lovely views.
Hosts are so welcoming and friendly. We have stayed here three times now and will most definitely be back.
We stayed in one of the 2 bedroom units. The accommodation is absolutely first class and purpose built! Both bedrooms have en suite bathrooms, there is a lovely lounge and large kitchen. A beautiful large patio with built in braai overlooking the mountain finishes off this wonderful accommodation. There is also undercover parking as part of the building. The beds are comfy and the unit is spotless and well maintained, and beautifully decorated. Upon arrival we had biscuits and chocolates waiting for us, with a small bottle of Old Brown Cherry. There was even complimentary charcoal and firefighters! The farm on which you stay is beautiful and you can hike and explore. Our hostess Ronel and her husband (owners) were warm and welcoming and you feel like you are visiting family. Clarens is only 10 minutes away. If you are looking for first class accommodation near Clarens then this is the place to stay!
Our hosts were extremely friendly and accommodating, our unit was serviced daily by the most lively lady and the views and farm itself were spectacular.

Lovely nature
Love the mountains for a nice hike.
A variety of restaurants and shops to explore.
We love exploring Golden Gate, wondering through the shops in the Town and visiting our favourite Clarens Brewery. We enjoy supporting the smaller farm restaurants in the area. Highland Brew was a lovely new addition to this trip.
Variety
Main roads to town are recommended for daylight use only. Small town atmosphere but with a wide variety of activities and stores. The annual Titanic Challenge Trail Run was my main attraction - stunning views!
Everything....food, quality of shops...felt safe...clean...friendly people....
Love all the shops and restaurants there is. Surrounded by mountains. Perfect breakaway for winter or summer.
